Letter to Parents:
We would like to introduce you to the Oxford High School Booster Club. We encourage, support and promote good citizenship amongst students and parents. We sponsor events and awareness programs to benefit both the students and the community, and do fund-raisers to provide assistance to school needs and functions for students. The OHSBC is similar to the PTO you have been working with during your child’s K-8 school experience.
We have done most of our work in the background and would like to share with you just some of our accomplishments, in the hope that you would consider contributing and assisting us in continuing our important work for all of the students and our community:
Projects funded and provided by OHSBC:
• Contributed $50K to clear the ground for the high school soccer field
• Concession buildings and all contents at the old field & the beautiful new field
• Landscaping improvements all around OHS
• Purchase of theatrical equipment for OHS Fine Arts’ Department
• Purchase of athletic equipment for various teams- including funding for new batting cages
• “Students at Work” signs for OHS Youth Conservation Corps
• “Welcome to Oxford” sign
• Granite for the OHS student time capsule
• IMPACT – Teen Safe Driving Program
• Scholarships awarded annually to 2 graduating seniors
• Annual Post Prom event for junior and senior students
• Various motivational speakers for OHS students
• Gallery of senior photo collages each year during graduation week
• Exam Time Goody Bags
• Senior Graduation Signs
• Providing OHS merchandise and supplies available in the School Store
Various fund-raising projects enable us to assist with or provide:
• Funds for Athletic Summer Camps
• Team training equipment and supplies
• Funds to offset costs for various OHS group members to participate in
events
• Provide funding assistance for speakers at OHS
• Assist with special school events such as Take a Stand Day
Community events sponsored by OHSBC:
• Oxford Day – Annual Community Fair which provides non-profit organizations
a fund-raising opportunity and our students a chance to give back to the
community
• Festival of Trees – Annual Event for students to design a themed tree and
donate proceeds of a tree raffle to a charity of their own choosing
(Over $8K already donated)
• Planting shrubbery at OHS and the Oxford Senior Center, along with
assisting the Oxford Land Trust in projects
The Booster Club meets the second Wednesday of each month during the school year, at 6:30 pm in the Faculty Dining Room across from the cafeteria. Everyone is invited to attend any meeting, and school administration is normally represented. Club information is on our website at www.ohsboosterclub.com. Please like us on Facebook for upcoming events and information.
In order to continue the work of the OHS Booster Club in the future, we need parent volunteers. Any time you can donate would be greatly appreciated. You do not need to commit to working long hours, consider just helping at a function or chairing a committee. There would also be no conflict if you are already involved with another school organization, you can still help with the Booster Club.
If you are willing to contribute any of your time and energy into helping us continue the important work of the OHS Booster Club you can visit the website and use the contact page to provide your email address, or contact directly via email any of the following board members:
