On October 12, the OHS Nutmeg Book Club held their second meeting of the year. At this meeting, the club discussed the book More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. Which is about a boy from the Bronx, who wants to erase certain memories from his past, by a company called Leteo. Who specializes in this field. The book follows him and his journey, as he discovers himself and how he should live his life. The book was overall very riveting, and contained many unexpected events the reader never saw coming. The book was an excellent read. If you are interested in reading the book, you can pick it up a copy at the OHS LMC or at the Oxford Public Library.
The club also discussed their next read which is titled: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Which is a book about a sixteen-year-old boy named Simon. Simon is not comfortable about revealing that he is gay, and keeps it a secret. Though he keeps his sexuality a secret, he writes e-mails anonymously, to a boy named Blue. Who is also gay, and also goes to his school. Simon is perfectly happy with the way things are. That is until an e-mail from Blue gets discovered by a boy at his school. The boy’s name is Martin, and agrees to keep his secret as long as he helps him get closer to a girl at their school named Abby, who happens to be Simon’s best friend. If he doesn’t he risks getting his e-mails leaked to everyone at school.
The meeting to discuss this book will be on October 31, which is a Tuesday. It will be right after school at the LMC. If you are interested in coming, you can pick up a copy of this book at the LMC from Mr. Bilmes.
